These Easter egg truffles are made from crushed Golden Oreos combined with softened cream cheese, dipped in melted white chocolate and decorated to resemble colorful Easter eggs. They’re essentially Oreo cookie balls reimagined for spring.
They’re an easy, no-bake treat that’s simple to customize—change the shape, chocolate color, or sprinkles to suit your celebration.

Oreo cookie balls are one of my go-to desserts for holidays and special occasions. The base recipe is the same each time, and I like to adapt it by shaping the truffles differently, using seasonal colors, or changing toppings.
You can shape cookie dough truffles any way you like. For other holidays I’ve made football-shaped, candy cane, and present-shaped Oreo balls—here we’ll form them into small egg shapes by hand. It’s easier than it sounds, and the technique is described below.

How to Make Easter Oreo Balls
This no-bake recipe yields about 20 white chocolate Easter truffles. Active prep time is roughly 30 minutes, plus chilling. Full step-by-step directions are in the recipe card below.
1. Pulse the cookies. Using a blender or food processor, pulse the Golden Oreos until they’re fine crumbs.
2. Make the cookie mixture. In a large bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs with softened cream cheese, vanilla, and salt. Mix with a hand or stand mixer until smooth and well combined.
3. Prepare a baking sheet. Line a large baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
4. Scoop and shape. Use a small cookie scoop to portion the mixture into tight, smooth balls. Place them on the prepared sheet.
5. Form egg shapes. Gently flatten each ball, then pinch the top to form a rounded point and shape the bottom slightly more rounded to resemble an egg. Refine the sides with your fingers until satisfied.
6. Chill the truffles. Refrigerate the tray for 1 hour, or freeze for 30 minutes, until firm.

7. Melt the candy wafers. Place the white candy wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat at 50% power for 1 minute, stir, then add shortening a little at a time to thin. Continue heating in 30-second bursts, stirring until the chocolate is smooth and pourable.
8. Color the chocolate. Divide the melted white chocolate into separate bowls and tint three of them with gel food coloring to create pastel shades.
9. Dip the eggs. Using dipping tools or two forks, fully coat each chilled truffle in melted chocolate. Return it to the prepared sheet after dipping.

10. Add sprinkles immediately. While the coating is still wet, press sprinkles onto the truffle in lines or patterns to create a decorated egg look. Work one truffle at a time so the chocolate stays fluid.
11. Repeat with other colors. Alternate colors and sprinkle combinations as desired until all truffles are decorated.
12. Let chocolate set. Allow the coating to harden completely before storing or serving.
13. Serve and enjoy!

Tips for the Best Golden Oreo Truffles
Use nonpareils. Small nonpareil sprinkles adhere well and give the best look for these eggs.
Work one color at a time. Candy melts stay smooth when warm—doing one color at a time makes it easier to keep the coating fluid.
Have multiple tools ready. If you alternate colors, use separate forks or dipping tools for each color to avoid mixing colors.
Top immediately. Add sprinkles right after dipping—within 2–3 minutes—before the coating firms.
Use a silicone mat. A silicone mat or parchment makes chilling and removing the truffles easy once the chocolate sets.

Substitutions & Variations
- Vanilla almond bark can replace white candy melts.
- Pre-colored candy melts are an easy alternative to tinting white chocolate.
- Different Oreo flavors offer new taste variations—try seasonal or flavored Oreos.
- Frosting swap you can substitute 8 oz of frosting for the cream cheese if you prefer a different texture.
FAQs
Store finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Keep Oreo truffles chilled until serving; many people prefer them cold. Cream cheese-based truffles should not be left at room temperature for extended periods—follow standard food-safety guidance.
If they crumble, the ratio of cookies to cream cheese may be off. Add a little more cream cheese and mix until the dough holds together well.
If they become oily, they may have warmed and released oils. Chill them in the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes to firm up again.
