You can meet many beloved stars at the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. For anyone who loves Hollywood and celebrity culture, a visit here offers the next best thing to seeing the real thing. My family and I visited recently and enjoyed an engaging, family-friendly attraction filled with lifelike figures, themed sets, and Hollywood-style photo opportunities.
The exterior is theatrical and playful, designed to resemble iconic Hollywood architecture complete with a large King Kong figure and a mock Hollywood sign. As you approach, you feel like a movie star entering a premiere. Red velvet ropes and an entrance set the tone, and staff often offer a photo taken inside King Kong’s grasp — a fun souvenir you can choose to purchase at the end of your visit.
Inside, lifelike wax figures are displayed in carefully themed vignettes that highlight what made each celebrity famous. The figures include detailed props and set pieces: you might find a glamorous lounge for a legendary entertainer, a sports-themed display with a basketball and jersey, or signature costumes that highlight a star’s signature look. The attention to costume and accessory details makes the figures especially convincing for snapshots and family photos.
Midway through the tour, visitors can take an elevator to an outdoor rooftop area. This rooftop provides a close-up view of the King Kong attraction and a scenic perspective of the surrounding Tennessee mountains. If you’re comfortable with heights, it’s a nice place for photos and a brief pause to enjoy the view. For those who prefer to stay grounded, the indoor displays offer plenty to explore.
The museum saves major fan favorites for the final rooms, allowing for a memorable finish to the tour. One popular figure is the recreation of a famous pop icon at the end of the exhibit, positioned near a replica Hollywood sign where families can pose together for a final “Hollywood” photo. At the exit, there is an opportunity to view and purchase the photo taken at the start of your visit, and a gift shop offers souvenirs such as novelty awards, memorabilia, and keepsakes to commemorate the experience.
In the same entertainment complex you’ll also find two additional attractions that are popular with families: Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors and the Castle of Chaos. Buying a combined VIP pass that covers multiple attractions is a convenient option for families wanting to experience everything in one visit, and it can provide added value compared with purchasing separate tickets.
Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors is a cleverly designed mirrored maze featuring dozens of turns, mirrored corridors, and archways. The maze offers a playful challenge to navigate as visitors try to progress through the reflective labyrinth. It was created by an experienced maze designer and delivers a fun, lighthearted adventure suitable for a wide range of ages.
The Castle of Chaos is an immersive, motion-based attraction that blends 3D visuals with environmental effects. Visitors wear 3D glasses and ride through scenes where visuals, sound, motion, and atmospheric effects create an intense, multi-sensory experience. Players can participate by using laser-style guns to interact with the scenes and compete for high scores. Note that the attraction has a minimum age and height guideline for safety.
All three attractions — the wax museum, the mirror maze, and the Castle of Chaos — are located close together and are popular stops in Pigeon Forge. They operate year-round and are designed to entertain families and visitors of many ages. Whether you’re a local or traveling through Tennessee’s Smoky Mountain area, these experiences provide a mix of theatrical presentation, interactive fun, and photo-worthy moments.
When planning a visit, consider looking into multi-attraction ticket options to save on admission, and arrive with enough time to enjoy each exhibit without rushing. The museum’s displays change periodically, and rotating figures and seasonal themes can add variety to repeat visits.
