1969 US Mint Proof Set — Original Packaging, Brilliant Uncirculated
Product description
This offering is the 1969 United States Mint proof set, complete with the original Mint-issued packaging and the protective case designed to keep the coins secure.
The set includes five proof coins: Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, and Kennedy half dollar. The one-cent piece is composed primarily of bronze (predominantly copper), the five-cent coin uses a copper-nickel alloy (about 75% copper and 25% nickel), and the dime, quarter and half dollar are copper-nickel clad pieces with mirrored fields and frosted devices. Standard diameters are approximately: cent 19.05 mm, nickel 21.21 mm, dime 17.91 mm, quarter 24.26 mm, and half dollar 30.61 mm.
These coins were produced as proof strikes for collectors, struck with specially prepared dies and planchets to produce sharp details and reflective surfaces. They are intended for collecting, display, or secure storage and are typically kept in the original packaging and case to preserve condition and provenance.
Pros
- Original Mint packaging and protective case included
- Five-coin proof set with mirrored fields and frosted devices

Building a long-term collection
I pick up a proof every week or two and now have issues from 1954 through 1992 plus themed sets like Apollo 11. I pay a small premium hoping they’ll appreciate over 30–40 years. Sellers vary in quality, so I check the vendor; collecting Franklin proofs has been fun and affordable.
