This Air Fryer Blackened Salmon cooks perfectly in an air fryer. With just three simple ingredients you can have a healthy, flavorful meal in minutes.
I love using the air fryer for quick lunches. It’s great for recipes like Parmesan Ranch Chicken Tenders, Buffalo Cauliflower Bites, and this blackened salmon. The air fryer keeps the fish juicy while giving it a lovely char on top.
The result is tender, flavorful salmon with a crisp, blackened crust. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the fillets in the oven, but I highly recommend trying them in an air fryer for the best texture.

How to cook salmon in the air fryer
This recipe is very simple. Start by cutting a pound of fresh salmon into two fillets. Lightly brush or spray the fillets with olive oil so the seasoning adheres and the surface crisps up.

Sprinkle blackening seasoning over the fillets to taste. Place the seasoned fillets in the air fryer basket or tray in a single layer. Set the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) and cook for about 8–10 minutes, depending on thickness and your preferred doneness.

What temperature should salmon be cooked to?
The USDA recommends cooking salmon to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Check the fillets around 8 minutes, and add time if needed based on thickness. For slightly more tender, medium-cooked salmon, you can remove it a few degrees below 145°F and let carryover heat finish the cooking.

What to serve with Air Fryer Blackened Salmon
Blackened salmon pairs well with fresh vegetables, rice, or a light salad. Roasted vegetable medleys are an easy side and can even be prepared in the air fryer or a multi-cooker like the Ninja Foodi for a complete meal.
