PL8 Professional Mandoline Slicer — Adjustable Straight, Waffle & Julienne
Product description
What’s included and construction: The PL8 Professional Mandoline comes as a single, all-in-one slicing unit with an integrated hand guard/pusher. The main deck is constructed from stainless steel to give a flat, wide surface for produce to slide across; other structural components use durable molded materials. All cutting elements are built into the body rather than supplied as loose blades.
Blades and cutting sizes: The mandoline offers three blade profiles — a straight slicing edge, a waffle/ondulated cutter, and julienne blades — selectable via the side dial and blade cover. There are four thickness settings: 1 mm, 3.5 mm, 5.5 mm and 7.5 mm, allowing very thin, medium and thicker slices. The julienne option can be set to single- or double-row for thinner or chunkier matchstick cuts.
How it’s used: Lock the unit on a countertop using the rubberized, non-slip feet and unfold them for use. Place the food on the deck, secure it with the safety hand guard, then run the guard down the deck to feed the item across the cutting surface. Change cut styles or thickness by turning the adjustment knob and raising or lowering the julienne row as needed. The integrated blade system means you don’t remove blades to change styles — you flip or dial them into position.
Cleaning and storage: The mandoline is designed for easy cleaning — a quick rinse under running water will remove most residues, and the unit is rated dishwasher-safe for more thorough washing. The feet fold up and the unit compacts for storage in a cabinet or drawer. Note that while the stainless deck is robust, avoid dropping the device or hitting the blade assemblies with hard objects to prevent damage.

- Integrated blade choices, no loose parts
- Dishwasher-safe and foldable for storage
Cons

VerdictThe PL8 Professional Mandoline is a versatile, mostly-metal slicer built to handle a range of kitchen tasks — from ultra-thin chips to waffle fries and julienne sticks. Its broad stainless steel platform steadies larger produce while the built-in blade system removes the need to swap loose blades. The dial lets you pick from four preset thicknesses and flip between straight and waffle profiles, an

Skip the pamphlet — watch a demonstration first
Do yourself a favor and watch some demonstration clips before you try it. The printed sheet isn’t enough to learn safe operation. Once I followed online demos I felt confident using it. The stainless deck feels solid, it folds flat for storage and rinses clean easily; I’ve even put it through the dishwasher. Great for wide fruits like oranges or small grapefruit when preparing garnishes or potpourri. Highly recommended for neat, wide slices and waffle fries.

Blade dulled quickly for me
Safety features and the folding stand are the reasons I bought it, but the main blade dulled after two uses and now tears rather than slices. My older slicer still cuts cleanly. I’ll keep using this with protective gloves or seek a replacement blade option.

A useful addition that stows away nicely
Exactly as pictured. The hand guard fits well and is easy to grip. Changing blades is done by the knobs so your hands avoid the cut edges. It folds compactly for storage and food glides smoothly over the slicing surface. I haven’t yet tested every blade, but I’m confident they’ll work as expected.

Waffle fry champion — fun and effective
This slicer made waffle fries perfectly every time. It felt intuitive to switch between slicing styles and cleanup was easy compared with previous mandolines I’ve owned. If you like waffle or lattice cuts, this turns them into a quick and repeatable process.

Sharpness and durability concerns after weeks
The blades weren’t super sharp for tomatoes and after about five weeks the knobs that set thickness broke. The supplier wouldn’t provide a fix. I ended up switching to a different, cheaper unit while I sorted the issue.

Frustrating setup and incomplete instructions
I slice a lot but the lack of a full manual made initial use fiddly. The adjustment button didn’t always reach its full range and I struggled to get the thicker slices. Online videos help, but the presenter’s speed hides small details. Thin slices and julienne are possible, but expect some trial and error to master the controls.

My go-to prep helper for onions and more
After a lot of research I purchased this and have used it for three years. It tames onions (no tears!), slices and juliennes quickly and is indispensable for holiday prep. The four thicknesses are 1 mm, 3.5 mm, 5.5 mm and 7.5 mm. You can do straight slices or wavy waffle cuts and raise one or two julienne rows depending on how fine you want matchsticks. Fast and reliable for everyday work.

Transformed tough slicing chores into quick work
This is brilliant for vegetables I used to struggle with, like aubergines. A cheap trial mandoline failed, but this unit tackled thin eggplant slices with ease. It arrived quickly and immediately proved its worth in regular meal prep.

Very practical and well thought out
I’m very pleased with this purchase. All blades are integrated, so you don’t swap parts — just turn the side dial to set thickness or cutting style. Heights are calibrated at 1 mm, 3.5 mm, 5.5 mm and 7.5 mm. The front cap and pusher let you work with long veg like zucchini and carrots and also create waffle cuts. Sturdy and practical.

Still useful despite a crack from a fall
Be careful — it’s not indestructible. I dropped mine and it split where the blade flips, and a straight blade edge got a small chip when a metal skewer hit it. My workaround is to place the food in the guide ring and press the hand glide down so the metal prongs don’t release. It slices fine that way. Cleaning is simple — rinse front and back and open the lower flap. I like the variety of cuts despite the fragility.

Exceeded my expectations — easy to use and clean
I started cooking more and this saved a ton of prep time. It felt like a professional-grade tool at a fraction of top-end prices. No blade swapping makes it safer, and spot-cleaning under the sink or tossing it in the dishwasher comes out sparkling. Switching cuts is as simple as turning a knob or sliding a switch. It’s made me try recipes I used to avoid because of tedious slicing.

Sturdy feel, safe operation, very sharp initially
I wanted a mostly-metal, restaurant-style unit and this all-in-one design delivered. No removable blades reduces handling risk. Cleaning takes a little attention in the corners but is straightforward. The dial offers several thickness choices and the thinnest setting is perfect for chips. The waffle mode worked great on my first try and switching modes never put my fingers near the blade.
