2HR Aquarist APT Jazz Aquarium Plant Root Tabs — 54-Tab Pack
Product description
Included: one sealed package containing 54 individual root tablets intended for use in planted freshwater aquariums.
Composition and size: each tablet is a compressed pellet made from a nutrient-rich matrix containing primary macronutrients and trace minerals in a clay-like binder. Tablets are small and coin/pea-sized so they fit into most planted substrates without disturbing plants.
How to use: push a tablet into the substrate beside the base of the plant or near runners; use at recommended spacing depending on plant density. The tablets slowly break down and release nutrients directly into the root zone, supporting thicker foliage and healthier root systems over time.
Pros
- Direct root-zone nutrient delivery
- Easy to insert and stays put in substrate
- Contains macro and trace elements
Cons
- Higher cost than basic alternatives
- Not a standalone complete fertilization plan
- May need periodic reapplication based on planting density

Promising initial results
Inserted them on Sunday; they were simple to place and began to break down quickly so roots could access nutrients fast. Early signs are positive.

Consistent results, no floaters
I tried many root supplements and these sank and stayed put without surfacing. Paired with my regular liquid regimen they produced rapid, healthy spread in crypts and other root feeders. Leaves grew larger and runners established firmly; transplanting caused no melt. Overall they delivered reliable, vigorous growth where other tabs sometimes failed.

No visible benefit for my reds
I didn’t see any improvement in my red plants compared with cheaper tabs I’ve used. Applied around macandra butterfly and Hra with no obvious difference.

Noticed quick substrate revival
My substrate looked refreshed and plant colors popped within a couple of days. I use several products from this maker and these tabs complemented my routine nicely.
