Let’s talk biscuits—creamy, tender, flaky biscuits that elevate any dinner. I make biscuits often for my family; they’re a favorite of my son and a reliable, comforting side for nearly any meal. These bacon green onion biscuits add a savory twist that’s simple but impressive.

I like to serve them with a warm bowl of tomato soup or a crisp salad when guests come. The bacon and green onions give the biscuits an extra layer of flavor without any fuss. They’re quick to prepare and bake up light and tender.

I usually start with lower-protein flour for tender, flaky results. Coating the bacon and green onions lightly with flour before adding the cream helps distribute those mix-ins evenly. Stir the dough only until the ingredients come together—overmixing will make biscuits tough.

Once the dough is combined, turn it out onto a floured surface and gently fold it over to create layers. Pat or roll the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness, then cut with a biscuit cutter. Place the biscuits on a prepared baking sheet and bake until just golden. A quick brush of melted butter after baking adds shine and flavor.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 slices cooked bacon, crumbled (about 4 tablespoons)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 3/4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 475ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, add the flour, crumbled bacon, and chopped green onions. Toss lightly so the bacon and onions are coated with flour. Slowly pour in the heavy whipping cream and stir gently until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured countertop. Gently pat or roll to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut biscuits using a 2-inch cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between biscuits. Bake 10–12 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Brush the hot biscuits with melted butter and return to the oven about 1 minute more for a light browning. Remove and serve warm.
