Acrylic Colour Primer Spray — Plate Mail Metal (400 ml)
Product description
What you get: a single 400 ml aerosol can of acrylic colour primer in the Plate Mail Metal shade. The formula pairs a pigmented metallic base with a primer binder designed for hobby use.
Materials and finish: an acrylic-based spray delivering a metallic, matt steel-like appearance that’s easy to overpaint. The fine atomisation is intended to avoid filling in recesses and to preserve sculpted detail on plastic, resin and metal figures.
Intended use: apply as the first step on miniatures, model kits, vehicles, robots, and other metal-heavy subjects to establish both adhesion and an initial metallic base colour. It works well as the foundation for Warpaints Fanatic, Speedpaint or any acrylic layering paints.
Application tips: agitate the can thoroughly for at least one minute before spraying and perform a quick test spray. Keep the nozzle about 15–20 cm from the model and build coverage with multiple thin, short bursts, allowing each pass to dry before adding the next. Avoid spraying in very hot, cold or humid conditions for best results.
After priming: continue with detail work, layering and highlights using your regular acrylic paints. The primer’s surface accepts subsequent paint layers cleanly and can save time when establishing a uniform metallic base across multiple figures or kits.

Quick, reliable spray for hobby nights
Perfect for quick priming sessions on the balcony. Shake, do a couple of light passes, and it dries fast enough to start basecoating soon after. The white shade is bright without being chalky.

Solid coverage after a quick test spray
I had a bit of overspray on my first miniature, so I now test-spray a few seconds first. After that it sprayed smoothly and covered well — I used the full can and replaced it. I let it dry ~24 hours before painting.

Dependable white primer for brighter schemes
Self-levels well, holds onto acrylic paints, and gives solid coverage when applied in thin layers. I still use two light coats and the white really helps bright colours pop; the black variant keeps recesses darker by default.

Handy finishing spray for outdoor use
I used this to seal and finish painted figures outside. The smell is noticeable so I stand well back when spraying. The finish goes on smooth and clear, and my mini looked great after drying.

Cap needs careful handling to avoid damage
Paint quality is good, but the plastic protective cap can be tricky. Treating it like a normal can risks snapping the nozzle. If you get one, remove the cap carefully. Support offered a refund or replacement when I had trouble.

Consistent results when instructions are followed
Gives smooth, even coatings and keeps detail crisp. Complaints about clumping seem avoidable by shaking the full minute as directed — I haven’t had any issues and will buy again.

Performs well, though a bit costly and strong-smelling
Dries fairly quickly and covers several minis per can. It can miss spots if you don’t angle properly, and the odor is strong, so spray outdoors. It feels a touch pricey but otherwise works as expected.

Unpredictable cans affected my confidence
After good results with earlier products, I experienced several cans that behaved oddly and left unintended white marks. I followed directions and suspect storage damage, but the inconsistency was frustrating.
