5 lb Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae — High-Calcium Poultry Feed
Product description
What’s included and form: Each purchase contains a 5 lb package of dried black soldier fly larvae, presented as whole grub pieces and a fine powder suitable for mixing into feed. The pack is intended to supply a flock with supplemental treats or an additive to existing diets.
Nutritional profile and materials: This BSFL feed is concentrated in minerals and macronutrients — testing indicates about 85 times more calcium than conventional dried mealworms and approximately 43% crude protein. The larvae are processed to preserve natural flavor and a crisp texture that encourages pecking and consumption.
Production and sustainability: The larvae are reared on plant-based feedstocks in a closed-cycle system designed to reduce food waste and greenhouse gas output. Manufacturing focuses on retaining nutrient density while minimizing environmental footprint, supporting circular-agriculture goals.
How to use and species suitability: Use the dried larvae as a treat, a protein boost during molting or growth, or a calcium supplement to help improve eggshell quality. It can be offered to chickens, ducks, quail, reptiles and some aquarium species. Serve whole, crushed, or blended into regular feed; adjust quantity by species, life stage and dietary needs and follow standard feeding guidance.
Customer support and handling: The 5 lb supply aims to last many feeding sessions, depending on flock size. Store in a cool, dry container after opening for best shelf life. The maker provides after-sales support and encourages customers to contact their team for any satisfaction concerns or questions about use.

My chickens love them! The large quantity is great and they disappeared quickly. I’ll be ordering more.

Good portion size, bag needs help
Great portion for feeding wild birds. I ended up splitting the contents into two plastic buckets because the resealable factory bag didn’t hold up. The buckets keep rodents out and are easy to carry to feeders. High-protein snack for winter.

Hens adored them, lasted long
My hens loved these — used as a daily morning treat for months. The 5 lb package was full and not just crumbs. Repurchasing.

Chickens go nuts for them
Second purchase because my flock absolutely loves these. When I call them in the evening they come sprinting for the larvae—fun to watch and an easy way to do a head count. Highly recommend for anyone with free-ranging birds.

Product great; delivery mix-up resolved
Updated: The larvae themselves are excellent but I ordered more than I received. I didn’t hear back from the maker, so I reached out to the marketplace’s customer service. A helpful rep named Ranjit arranged a refund so I could place the correct order. Frustrating at first but resolved in the end.

Tightly packed — eventual flock favorite
The bag was densely filled so you get plenty. My hens were wary at first; our timid senior tried one and after about two weeks the rest slowly joined in. Now they prefer these to the other mix we give. Living in Maine, they need extra calcium in winter; a senior hen with thin shells showed noticeable improvement after two months of regular supplementation. I’d recommend giving shy birds time to warm up to them.
