Quantum Stylist Touch 9985 — Computerized Sewing Machine with Accessory Kit
Product description
The Quantum Stylist Touch 9985 is a fully computerized sewing machine designed for hobbyists and home sewers who want both variety and guidance. The machine provides more than 1,000 stitch applications covering basic, stretch, quilting, heirloom and decorative stitches. You can view each stitch on the large color LCD in actual size, adjust length and width, mirror or elongate patterns, and save customized stitch combinations into 60 memory slots for quick recall. Stitch width adjusts up to 7 mm and presser foot pressure can be tuned for techniques like applique or basting. A speed control slider sets the maximum sewing pace so you can slow down for delicate work and speed up for large projects.
The user interface includes step-by-step tutorials on threading and bobbin setup, and the machine offers one-step convenience for buttonholes with 13 selectable styles (bartack, keyhole, stretch types and others) — just place the button in the foot and it will form a matching opening. Additional conveniences include an adjustable presser foot lifter, an automatic thread cutter, an up/down needle function, and a start/stop button for pedal-free operation.
The package comes with a comprehensive accessory kit stored in the machine’s front compartment: 15 presser feet (General Purpose, Zipper, Buttonhole with Underplate, Blind Hem, Satin Stitch, Overcasting, Darning/Embroidery, Rolled Hem, Button Sewing, Quarter Inch, Open Toe, Even Feed/Walking, Cording Foot and more), Class 15 transparent bobbins, assorted needles, a seam ripper/lint brush, auxiliary spool pin, spool pin felt, screwdrivers, thread spool caps, an edge/quilting guide and a soft dust cover. The outer casing is formed from molded housing with durable internal metal mechanisms, while many user-accessible parts like bobbin cases and tool compartments are made from serviceable plastics. With regular maintenance — cleaning the bobbin area and changing needles — it is intended for a wide range of projects including garments, quilts, home decor and heavier domestic fabrics.

Long-Term Reliable Companion
After nearly a decade of frequent use with proper maintenance, this machine served me well for blinds, quilts, bags and garments. I eventually moved to a heavier-duty machine for specific tasks, but this 9985 remained a go-to for many projects because it’s light to transport and easy to thread.

Enjoy the Color and Stitch Variety
I love the color and that you can run it without the foot pedal. The variety of patterns is fantastic. Lettering can be tricky to keep perfectly straight when you first start, but I learned a better hand position over time.

A Solid Upgrade From an Older Heavy-Duty Model
After retiring an old Heavy Duty Singer, this was a welcome replacement. The automatic needle threader worked immediately for me, which was a pleasant surprise. The electronics are surprisingly straightforward; I turned off the audible alerts but otherwise barely use the manual. My first unit had a tiny broken hinge on the tools cover, but customer service resolved it.

Attractive and Functional
Looks great and works well. I deducted points for some plastic housing parts and for the thread cutter and threader being a bit awkward. I may need more practice, but otherwise it’s an excellent machine.

Lovely and Robust
I adore it! Very simple to use and sturdy. Good value for the performance. I handled heavy fabrics without trouble and would buy it again.

Fantastic Machine for Detailed Sewing
I waited to use it several times before reviewing and it has been excellent — quiet, easy to use, and the touch screen offers small guides for bobbin and upper thread setup. Nearly 1,000 stitches with on-screen previews that show how adjustments change the stitch. Pricey, but worth it and very attractive.

Excellent Machine, Manual Arrived Quickly
The machine is top-notch. Initially there was no local-language manual in the box, but the manufacturer sent a translated manual by email promptly. Very pleased overall.

Performance Concerns After Heavy Use
I was very excited about this machine but it began making a grinding noise after a few weeks of heavy sewing. I cleaned and oiled it and checked for obstructions, but it eventually stopped working. The seller replaced it, but the second unit still showed signs of strain under heavy loads. I hope this was a rare defect.

Promising, but Some Fit and Attachment Issues
I was skeptical about modern Singers, but the auto tension performs well. I wouldn’t call the automatic threading perfect, however. Some presser feet and an attachment piece were difficult to seat correctly and required extra fiddling instead of snapping in easily.

A Compelling Alternative to High-End Models
This machine stacks up very well against higher-priced competitors. The color touchscreen is crisp and easy to read, and the overall appearance impressed me right out of the box — the finish and styling are striking. I do miss a knee lifter, but the 9985’s stitch selection and stitch quality are excellent, and its wide range of stitches dwarfs a number of pricier models I compared it to.

Quiet, Controlled and User-Friendly
I upgraded from a simpler machine and this one has been a great choice. It is very quiet when sewing slowly and the speed control is perfect for teaching students. The unit runs smoothly and the adjustable pace makes delicate tasks much easier.

Longtime Singer Fan — Thrilled with the 9985
I collected older Singers and eventually upgraded to this model. It satisfied my tech curiosity — lots of features and a modern interface. Everything I needed was in the box and I appreciated having so many presser feet. I added extra bobbins later, since I like to keep spares handy.

Great Features with a Few Caveats
I love the touch panel and how attractive the decorative stitches look. The machine offers useful modern features like up/down needle and auto thread cutting. The built-in threader is awkward at times, so I prefer magnifiers and manual threading. Also, the sewing area could feel larger for some projects.
